Volleyball Sweeps Home Tri-Match Over Forsyth Tech and Roane State

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team defended its home court in dominant fashion on Saturday, September 20, earning back-to-back victories over Forsyth Technical Community College and Roane State Community College. The Flying Eagles dropped just one set across the two matches, improving their overall rhythm and balance on both sides of the net.
SWCC 3, Forsyth Tech 1
After dropping the opening set, the Flying Eagles roared back to take the next three and secure a 3–1 victory (18–25, 25–20, 25–22, 25–15).

Destanie Ambers powered the offense with 17 kills on a blistering .485 hitting percentage while also adding 13 digs and a block.

Patricia Bigge delivered 10 kills at a .471 clip and chipped in three block assists.

Jaycie Stanley was highly efficient at the net, tallying 6 kills on .545 hitting.

Lucy Reid set the tone with 29 assists and added two service aces.

Defensively, Evie Buffington anchored the back row with 16 digs, helping SWCC limit Forsyth Tech to a .118 hitting percentage.
The Eagles’ offensive firepower proved too much, finishing the match with a .362 team attack percentage compared to Forsyth’s .118.
SWCC 3, Roane State 0
In the nightcap, the Flying Eagles carried their momentum into a sweep of Roane State (25–18, 25–12, 25–16).

Ambers once again led the way with 17 kills, hitting .485 for the second straight match and totaling a match-high 19 points.

Bigge followed with 10 kills and three block assists, while Stanley added 6 kills at .545 efficiency.

Reid orchestrated the offense with 29 assists and two service aces.

Buffington anchored the defense with 16 digs, as SWCC held Roane State to just .085 hitting as a team.
The Flying Eagles were steady across all three sets, posting hitting percentages of .267, .435, and .462.
