Volleyball Sweeps Patrick & Henry on the Road

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team put together a dominant performance Tuesday evening, sweeping Patrick & Henry Community College in straight sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-13.
The Flying Eagles (6-9, 1-1) controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing a balanced attack and steady defensive presence. Patricia Bigge led the way offensively with 12 kills on an impressive .455 hitting percentage, while Destanie Ambers added 10 kills, nine digs, and a team-high 12 points.
Setter Lucy Reid directed the offense with 28 assists and chipped in six digs and two service aces. Brooklyn Langston contributed six points on four kills, a block, and an ace, while Jaycie Stanley posted four kills in two sets of action.
Southwest Virginia also received strong defensive efforts from Evie Buffington and Madison Inderrieden, who combined for 16 digs, while Anna McKinney and Natalie Haynes provided depth off the bench.
As a team, the Flying Eagles tallied 34 kills, 32 assists, 47 digs, and five aces while limiting Patrick & Henry to just 42 total points across three sets.
Southwest Virginia returns to action on Saturday, September 20th, when they host Forsyth Techincal CC and Roane State CC in a Tri-Match. First serve is set for 12:00 PM.
