Flying Eagles Sweep Guilford Tech on the Road

Cedar Bluff, VA- The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team continued its strong start to the season with a dominant sweep over Guilford Technical Community College on Tuesday evening. The Flying Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, winning in straight sets by scores of 25–5, 25–13, and 25–9.
SWCC’s offensive attack was led by Brooklyn Langston, who posted 11 kills on a .471 hitting percentage, while Destanie Ambers added 10 kills without a single error, hitting an impressive .588. Patricia Bigge was also efficient at the net, recording 5 kills and 3 service aces to finish with 8 points.
Setting the tone, Lucy Reid dished out 23 assists to guide the Flying Eagles’ offense, while defensively, Evie Buffington anchored the back row with 15 digs. Raegan Ryder and Haylee Griffin also chipped in from the service line with an ace apiece.
As a team, SWCC hit .579 in the opening set and never looked back, finishing the night with a .442 attack percentage compared to Guilford Tech’s .000. The Flying Eagles also outperformed in serving, tallying 9 aces on the evening.
With the win, Southwest Virginia improves to 3–0 on the season. The Flying Eagles remain on the road this week as they travel to Davidson-Davie on Saturday for a Tri-Match against USC Lancaster and Davidson-Davie, with first serve set for 11:00 AM.
