Volleyball Competes at Tri-Match at Davidson-Davie

THOMASVILLE, N.C.– The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team traveled to Davidson-Davie Community College on Saturday for a Region 10 tri-match, falling in straight sets to both the host Storm and USC Lancaster.
Davidson-Davie 3, Southwest Virginia 0
In the opener, Davidson-Davie posted a .409 team hitting percentage to earn a 25-13, 25-11, 25-22 victory over the Flying Eagles.
Brooklyn Langston led Southwest Virginia with six kills and two service aces, while Destanie Ambers contributed four kills and four block assists. Setter Lucy Reid paced the offense with 14 assists and added two aces. Defensively, libero Evie Buffington recorded a team-high 13 digs.
Davidson-Davie was led by Carly Edwards with 14 kills, Anna Edwards with 10 kills, and Kaitlyn McCoy with nine.
USC Lancaster 3, Southwest Virginia 0
In their second match of the day, the Flying Eagles battled in each set before falling to USC Lancaster by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-22.
Ambers once again led the attack, finishing with 10 kills, two service aces, and a .290 hitting percentage. Langston and Landri Lallande combined for 11 kills, while Reid dished out 23 assists and served four aces. Madison Inderrieden anchored the defense with 16 digs, followed by Buffington with eight.
USC Lancaster was paced by Victoria Hayes with 11 kills, along with seven kills each from Isabelle Conradie and Taaj Rockman.
