Flying Eagles Split Saturday's Tri-Match

Cedar Bluff, VA-The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, dropping a four-set battle with Walters State before responding with a straight-set sweep of Patrick & Henry.
Walters State 3, SWCC 1
The Flying Eagles opened with momentum, taking the first set 25–19. Walters State answered back, however, claiming the next three sets (25–22, 25–21, 25–22) to secure the win.
Patricia Bigge and Jaycie Stanley led SWCC with 11 kills apiece, while Destanie Ambers added 9 kills and 20 digs. Setter Lucy Reid tallied 36 assists, and libero Evie Buffington anchored the defense with 27 digs.
SWCC 3, Patrick & Henry 0
Southwest Virginia bounced back in the afternoon match, turning in a dominant performance to sweep Patrick & Henry (25–11, 25–12, 27–25).
Ambers once again paced the offense with 11 kills, joined by Brooklyn Langston and Bigge, who each added 10. Reid kept the attack balanced with 30 assists and four service aces, while Buffington collected double-digit digs for the second straight match.

The Flying Eagles improve to 3–4 on the season and return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd, when they travel to Walters State CC for a pair of matches. The first is scheduled for 2:00 PM against Walters State, while the second is slated for 4:00 PM against Campbellsville University JV.
