Flying Eagles Celebrate Sophomore Day, Prepare for Region 10 Tournament

CEDAR BLUFF, VA — The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team closed out its regular season on Saturday afternoon, falling 3–0 (15–25, 21–25, 16–25) to Davidson-Davie Community College at the King Community Center.
The match served as Sophomore Day, as the Flying Eagles honored Evie Buffington, Patricia Bigge, and Destanie Ambers for their leadership and contributions to the program.
Ambers led the team with seven kills and seven digs, while Bigge added five kills and a block assist. Freshman Natalie Haynes chipped in five kills on a .231 hitting percentage. Setter Lucy Reid distributed 25 assists and recorded a service ace, and Buffington anchored the defense with 14 digs and one ace.
As a team, Southwest Virginia tallied 32 kills, 40 digs, and four service aces in the match.
With the regular season concluded, the Flying Eagles (7 seed) will now turn their attention to postseason play, as they host No. 10 Wake Tech on Monday, October 28, at 4:00 PM in the opening round of the Region 10 Tournament at the King Community Center.
