Flying Eagles Battle Late but Fall in Straight Sets at Caldwell

HUDSON, N.C. — The Southwest Virginia Community College volleyball team battled hard on the road Tuesday evening but came up short in a 3–0 loss to Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. Set scores were 25–9, 26–24, and 25–22 in favor of the Cobras.
After a slow start in the opening set, the Flying Eagles regrouped and pushed Caldwell to the brink in the next two frames, showing improved offensive rhythm and defensive resilience.
Sophomore Destanie Ambers led SWCC with six kills and eight digs, while Brooklyn Langston contributed three kills, three block assists, and one ace. Patricia Bigge added four kills and two block assists, and setter Lucy Reid dished out 14 assists along with five digs and an ace.
Defensively, Evie Buffington anchored the back row with a team-high seven digs, and Anna McKinney chipped in four digs and an ace from the service line.
As a team, the Flying Eagles recorded 36 digs, 10 block assists, and four service aces in the competitive outing.
The Flying Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 18, when they host Wake Tech CC and Carolina University JV in a Tri-Match. First Serve is set for 11:00 AM.
