Harvey’s Second-Half Surge Lifts Flying Eagles Past Richard Bland, 77–66

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Southwest Virginia Community College used a strong second half and balanced scoring to pull away from Richard Bland College for a 77–66 win Saturday afternoon at the King Community Center.
After trailing 16–13 at the end of the first quarter, the Flying Eagles settled in during the second, outscoring Richard Bland 18–10 to take a 31–26 lead into halftime. Both teams matched each other in the third quarter, 25–25, before SWCC closed the game with a 21–15 edge in the final period to seal the victory.
Grace Harvey led the way with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting and added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kara Kelley was nearly perfect from the field, finishing with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting while grabbing 12 rebounds. Abby Berry added 17 points and eight boards, and Emma Owens chipped in 10 points as the Flying Eagles placed four players in double figures.
SWCC shot 50 percent from the floor and held a slight rebounding advantage, 37–34. The Flying Eagles also went 13-for-16 from the free-throw line.
Richard Bland was paced by Grace Riggs with 23 points, while Hazel Veloz added 15.
