CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Southwest Virginia showed plenty of fight on Saturday afternoon, but a tough shooting stretch in the middle quarters proved to be the difference as the Flying Eagles fell 65–48 to Bryant & Stratton inside the King Community Center.
SWCC opened the game with good energy and trailed by just one after the first quarter, but the offense cooled in the second period and Bryant & Stratton was able to create some breathing room heading into halftime. The visitors later used a strong fourth quarter to keep control the rest of the way.
Kara Kelley and Grace Harvey led the Flying Eagles with 11 points each. Harvey delivered a hard-earned double-double with 10 rebounds, while Kelley added four assists and continued to steady the offense.
Abby Berry chipped in seven points and grabbed four steals, and Kayllyn Vannoy finished with six points and three assists.
Off the bench, Shy Harrison gave SWCC a lift, scoring five points in 12 minutes.
Despite the loss, the Flying Eagles showed moments of strong ball movement, finishing with 13 assists on 19 made field goals.
