Flying Eagles’ Unbeaten and Clean Sheet Streaks End at USC Union

Jonesville, SC- The Southwest Virginia Community College men’s soccer team saw its impressive run come to an end Tuesday afternoon, falling 6–0 on the road to USC Union in Jonesville, South Carolina.
The result snapped the Flying Eagles’ eight-match unbeaten streak and ended their five consecutive clean sheets, marking their first setback since early September.
USC Union struck early, scoring three times within the opening 15 minutes to seize control of the match. The Bantams added a fourth before halftime and two more in the second half to close out the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Pedro Marcos Hernández recorded five saves in 70 minutes of play, while Cian Thomas added one save in relief. Euan Whitty, Gustavo Gonzales, and LC Pannell each registered shots for the Flying Eagles.
With the loss, Southwest Virginia moves to 8–5–2 overall and 3–3–1 in Region X play.
The Flying Eagles return home for Sophomore Day on Friday, October 17, when they host USC Lancaster. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the SWCC Soccer Field.
