Winston-Salem, N.C. — Southwest Virginia Community College couldn’t slow down a hot-shooting Forsyth Tech squad on Wednesday night, falling 94–52 on the road in Region 10 play.
Forsyth Tech controlled the first half, using 48% shooting and a strong effort on the glass to build a 44–22 halftime lead. The Flying Eagles continued to battle after the break, but the home team’s pace and efficiency proved difficult to match across 40 minutes.
Freshman Deonta Mozell led SWCC with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including two threes. David Frazier added 9 points, four rebounds, and two steals, while Auri Jacobs posted 8 points, six rebounds, and a steal. Brice Wallace collected a team-high seven rebounds, contributing to SWCC’s 38 total boards.
Southwest Virginia struggled to find rhythm offensively, finishing 18-of-71 (25.4%) from the field and 2-of-29 from deep. The Flying Eagles earned 22 trips to the free throw line, converting 14, but couldn’t overcome Forsyth Tech’s efficiency, rebounding edge (59–38), and 28 assisted baskets.
The home team placed five players with eight or more points, highlighted by Cal Barrett’s 23 points and Taky Prosper’s 18 points and seven rebounds.
With the result, Southwest Virginia moves to 2–4 overall.
