CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Southwest Virginia Community College ran into a hot-shooting Fayetteville Technical Community College squad on Sunday, falling 114-72 at the King Community Center.
Fayetteville Tech set the tone early, shooting 55 percent from the floor and knocking down 12 three-pointers at a 46 percent clip. The Trojans carried a 61-33 lead into halftime and placed five players in double figures, led by Jaylen Sturdivant’s 25-point outing, which included six made triples in just 14 minutes.
The Flying Eagles found scoring from a pair of freshmen, as Deonta Mozell and Mike Corley Jr. each poured in 17 points. Mozell drilled four shots from deep, while Corley Jr. added three triples of his own and went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
Emonte Lee battled inside for 10 points and five rebounds, and David Frazier contributed across the stat sheet with seven rebounds, two assists, and a three-pointer. Southwest Virginia generated extra chances with 17 offensive rebounds but struggled to find a sustained rhythm against an active and efficient Trojans' defense.
Fayetteville Tech also showcased strong ball movement, finishing with 25 assists on 44 made field goals and forcing 17 SWCC turnovers.
