CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Southwest Virginia Community College delivered one of its most impressive offensive outings of the season on Saturday afternoon, but a strong second-half push from Pitt Community College lifted the Bulldogs past the Flying Eagles, 97–95, inside the King Community Center.
SWCC came out with confidence, knocking down shots early and often on the way to a 55-point first half that energized the home crowd. The Flying Eagles moved the ball with purpose, found open looks on the perimeter, and played with great pace to build a double-digit lead at the break. Pitt, however, regrouped and chipped away throughout the second half, outscoring SWCC 57–40 over the final 20 minutes to complete the comeback.
Freshman Deonta Mozell once again showcased his scoring ability, finishing with 28 points while hitting seven three-pointers. Brice Wallace added another standout performance, pouring in 25 points with six threes of his own while contributing on both ends of the floor. David Frazier provided toughness inside with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Auri Jacobs guided the offense with 11 assists and 12 points, helping SWCC shoot over 51% from deep as a team.
Pitt was led by Amaree Barber’s 31 points and Cam’ron Myers’ 27, capitalizing on late-game momentum to escape with the narrow win.
Southwest Virginia, now 2–3 on the season, returns to action Wednesday on the road at Forsyth Tech with tipoff set for 6:00 PM.
