Flying Eagles Earn First Win Under Coach Lambert, Defeat Johnston 104–85

Cedar Bluff, Va. — The Thad Lambert era of Southwest Virginia Community College men's basketball opened in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, as the Flying Eagles soared past Johnston Community College, 104–85, inside the King Community Center.
Southwest Virginia controlled the game from start to finish, outscoring Johnston 56–26 in the paint and forcing 23 turnovers that led to fast-break opportunities and second-chance points. The Flying Eagles outpaced the Jaguars 59–44 in the second half to secure the wire-to-wire victory.
Sophomore forward Emonte Lee powered the attack with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double on 10-of-12 shooting. David Frazier added 14 points and 7 rebounds, sinking 12-of-14 from the free throw line. Auri Jacobs and Mike Corley Jr. each tallied 12 points, while Brice Wallace filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Jack Ford contributed 9 points on 4-of-5 shooting as the Flying Eagles shot nearly 49% from the field and outrebounded Johnston 42–34.
Johnston was led by Khaliq Boston, who poured in 23 points and connected on six three-pointers. Orion Champion added 18 points, while Jamaal Miller finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the Jaguars.
The victory marked Head Coach Thad Lambert's first win leading the men's basketball program and set a strong tone for the 2025–26 season.
Southwest Virginia (1–0) returns to action on Thursday, November 7, when they host Central Carolina Community College at the King Community Center. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
